Why run now?

I am committed to Northfield. I filed as a candidate for the Northfield City Council At-Large seat in the upcoming election.
My most recent board position was on the Northfield Convention and Visitors Bureau.  The CVB's main task is to bring visitors to Northfield.  I believe the City Council should be much like the CVB and should do much more to attract businesses to the City. I have been very disheartened when I see the City Council vote completely against the Planning Commission that spent 2 years taking testimony from witnesses that have a stake in the Land Development Code.  It is also disappointing when the Chairman of the Charter Commission resigns and says "that is it embarrassing" to be a member of an appointed committee. Something needs to change!
The City Council needs to be seen as a way for businesses to locate in Northfield instead of a roadblock to growth.
I will have a learning curve for City business details but I have attended enough City Council meetings to understand the process.
I will be putting together a campaign committee soon and I would really appreciate your support in the election.
